On February 26, 2025, Technical Partners in Health in Edo State paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Secretary, EDSPHCDA Dr Coulson Osoikhai Oahimire, to familiarize themselves and discuss ways to improve primary healthcare services in the state.
The meeting occurred at the Executive Secretary’s office in Ezoti, Benin City. Representatives from various partner organizations, including UNICEF, WHO, Oke Creative Future Foundation (OCFF), St. Margaret Efe Foundation, Marie Stopes International (MSI), The Carter Center, and NPHCDA, as well as EDSPHCDA Directors were in attendance.

During the meeting, Dr. Oahimire emphasized that the EDSPHCDA is solely responsible for primary healthcare in Edo State. He urged all partners to work closely with the Agency before executing projects to ensure proper coordination and alignment with the State’s healthcare goals. He also highlighted key areas where the Agency requires support, including outreach programs, funding, and better collaboration to enhance service delivery at the grassroots level.

In response, one of the partners, Mr. Kingsley Okonkwo, representing UNICEF, stressed the importance of regular meetings between the Executive Secretary and his team and the Partners to ensure proper coordination of primary healthcare programs and activities, prevent duplication of efforts, and ensure efficient resource use.
Additionally, he appealed to the Executive Secretary to provide space at the Agency for partners to carry out their duties effectively.
